Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
Your privacy matters. This policy explains how Fodmap, formerly published as IBS Logger ("we", "our", or "the app"), handles your information.
The Short Version
Your health data stays on your device. We don't collect it, we don't store it, we don't sell it.
Data Storage
Local Storage Only
All your health information is stored locally on your device using an on-device database and iOS system storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it yourself.
What We Store Locally
The app stores the following on your device:
- IBS flare logs (symptoms, triggers, severity, dates/times)
- Food and meal tracking data, including FODMAP tags and any photos you add
- Bristol scale entries and stool pattern data
- Daily wellness tracking (energy, stress, water intake, sleep)
- Low-FODMAP diet journey progress and challenge results
- IBS-SSS questionnaire results
- Menstrual cycle settings, if you enable cycle tracking
- App preferences and settings
Data We Collect
Personal Information
We do not collect any personally identifiable information. You are not required to create an account or provide any personal details to use Fodmap.
Apple Health (Optional)
If you enable cycle tracking, you can optionally allow Fodmap to read menstrual cycle data from Apple Health to fill in your period start date automatically. This access is:
- Read-only. Fodmap never writes to Apple Health
- Optional. You can enter your period date manually instead
- Processed entirely on your device and never transmitted anywhere
- Revocable at any time in iOS Settings under Health
Anonymous Usage Analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app itself is used, for example which onboarding step people stop at. This covers app usage events only:
- We never send your health data, logs, meals, symptoms, or any health content to analytics
- Events are limited to app flow steps, such as onboarding progress and purchase steps
- The data is not used for advertising and is not linked to your identity by us
- See Firebase's privacy documentation for how Google processes this data
Third-Party Services
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may process:
- Anonymous device identifiers
- Purchase and subscription status
- Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution token, used to understand which Apple Search Ads campaign led to an install. This token contains no personal information
RevenueCat does not have access to your health data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
What We Don't Do
- No cloud storage of health data: Your logs are not uploaded to our servers (we don't have any)
- No data selling: We never sell your information to third parties
- No advertising: No ads, no tracking pixels, no data brokers
- No account required: No email collection, no user profiles
Data Exports
You can export your data at any time via the app's export feature. Exports are:
- Generated locally on your device
- Saved to your device or shared via the iOS share sheet
- In PDF or CSV format
- Entirely under your control
Data Deletion
To delete your data:
- Use the app's "Clear All Data" feature in Settings
- Or delete the app from your device
Either action permanently removes all locally stored health data. This cannot be undone.
Children's Privacy
Fodmap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Your data is protected by:
- iOS system-level encryption and security
- No network transmission of health data
- Local-only storage
We recommend enabling device passcode/biometric lock and keeping your iOS version updated.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
Your Rights
Since all health data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Right to access: View your data anytime in the app
- Right to export: Use the export feature
- Right to delete: Clear data or delete the app
- Right to control Apple Health access: Manage in iOS Settings
California Privacy Rights
Under CCPA: We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information beyond what's described above.
European Users (GDPR)
For EU users: Your health data stays on your device and is never processed on our servers. Anonymous app-usage analytics are processed as described above; you can object by contacting us.
